$1.26 Million Raised to Support Young Australians with Cancer
Recently the Reddawn team joined the incredible work taking place by the Sony Foundation, through their event Wharf4Ward. We are extremely proud to announce that an impressive $1.26 million dollars was raised from the event!
Funds raised will go towards Sony Foundation's 'You Can' initiative to support 15 - 25 year old’s with cancer and ensure no young person faces cancer alone. Sony Foundation’s 'You Can Centres' and 'You Can Stay' accommodation program are changing the experience for hundreds of youth cancer patients every year and giving them access to the best care, support and treatment.
The day featured a takeover of all 6 restaurants at Woolloomooloo, with entertainment by Sony artists including Pete Murray, Sam Fischer, Amy Shark, Daryl Braithwaite and Northeast Party House. However, the star of the day was 17-year-old Annabel who spoke bravely and eloquently about her experience having travelled far from home for her cancer treatment which delivered a standing ovation. Annabel and her family were supported with 15 months of free accommodation from the You Can Stay program while she underwent nine rounds of chemotherapy and had four infections, one which landed her in ICU for six weeks.
Reddawn was able to support the day with contributions by way of pro-bono support, inclusion of a corporate prize, a very generous pledge, and a contribution to the silent auction. Offering 20k towards the cause through our contributions.
The day was a great opportunity to see the difference to the young people and families we supported through the foundation, so a very big thank you to the Sony Foundation for the incredible work they’re doing. Check out the impact this life changing foundation is undertaking here.
