What we did
Security & Crowd Management Plan
With 1,000+ riders from over 70 countries attending the world championships, and with a city wide site overlay - minute by minute planning of this event and its impacts were critical. Reddawn approached this with forward planning and an overarching management plan, working in with stakeholders and operating in a ‘zone’ management style on event days to allow for clear hierarchy management and communication flows.
Security Officers
Providing 138 Security Officers on each race day, these guards played critical roles within their zones. Providing on-ground solutions to complications, implementation of access management, patron safety, first-responder call outs and ongoing reports to the ECC. Strategic positioning of guards across the course was focused on to ensure that active roles would be taken by guards at their locations, assisting in patron management and risk reduction through their tactical layout across the precinct.
Crowd Control
With over 300,000 spectators lining the course, Crowd Control was a key component of our operational duties. Working in alignment with event managers and infrastructure suppliers, Reddawn seamlessly assisted in the navigation of access points and zone management.
ECC Operations
With the UCI event footprint reaching the breadth of wollongong (and beyond), coordinated efforts were made between all stakeholders to ensure smooth delivery of the event. This amalgamated on event days in an Event Command Centre with department representatives from the UCI Event Team, NSW Highway Patrol Police, Wollongong LAC Police, Ambulance NSW, Event Medical, Coats Infrastructure, Win Stadium, Wollongong Council, Communications Manager, Transport NSW, Destination NSW & Reddawn.
